Biology Research

TEM image of Vibrio cholerae, the causative agent of the devastating diarrheal disease cholera. The bacterium is a curved rod and is motile by means of its single polar flagellum. The sample was prepared and imaged by graduate student Brad Goforth, from Dr. Ece Karatan's lab. Dr. Karatan's research is aimed at understanding regulation of biofilm formation by V. cholerae.
