Nociceptor Morphology in Drosophila larvae
These images show the multidendritic nociceptor neurons of fruit fly larvae imaged using membrane-bound Green Fluorescent Protein. (A) Shows nociceptors in a control larvae, while (B) shows nociceptors of neurons that lack the function of the transmembrane protein Otk2. Tracing of these neurons (A’ and B’) reveals differences in dendritic overlap between neighboring neurons. The neurons lacking Otk2 seem to cross over with neighboring neurons more frequently than is observed in control neurons.
