Geological and Environmental Sciences
His work is focused on the classification of unknown meteorite samples. Classification is the description of a textures, mineralogy and geochemistry of these rocks to identify details of their geologic history and aspects of the geology of asteroids and planets. This work utilizes scanning electron microscopy for imaging as well as quantitative chemical analysis using energy dispersive spectroscopy. He frequently relies on the JEOL ITS300 housed within the Dewel Microscopy Facility as a tool for this work. He has begun working with international collaborators to identify new samples. He has conducted this project out of his normal work hours and in an extra effort to support the lab.
